No VHS or DVD?!!

I saw this a few years ago on TCM and loved it... like another poster here, I missed the beginning so I figured I'd find it on video. Doesn't look like it ever had a VHS release. Seems odd to me that it's not on DVD either. What gives?! This film certainly deserves better!

I just saw it today on TCM...it was great! I agree...can't believe it's not commercially available.

I MAY BE 7 MONTHS LATE WITH THIS INFO; BUT YOU CAN BUY A COPY ON DVD OR VHS AT
ACinemaApart.Com

IT LOOKS LIKE A TRANSFER FROM TELEVISION. NOT THE GREATEST FOR VIEWING; BUT
NOT THAT BAD EITHER. IF YOU REALLY WANT A COPY, THIS IS THE ONLY THING AVAILABLE ON THIS MOVIE.

I HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR A COPY FOR YEARS.I BOUGHT IT, AND I AM JUST PLEASED TO HAVE IT IN MY MOVIE COLLECTION.

ALSO A NOTE OF INTEREST: A YOUNG BILLY PRESTON ("WILL IT GO 'ROUND IN CIRCLES"), IS FEATURED IN THE FIRST HALF HOUR AS W.C. HANDY AS A YOUNG BOY.
THAT ALONE IS WORTH HAVING THIS IN YOUR COLLECTION.

"OOO...I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

It is a travesty that this film is not on commercial vhs or dvd, and perhaps worst of all there is no soundtrack cd. There was a sparse LP soundtrack released at about the same time the movie came out in 1958. In Henderson, Kentucky every year about this time there is a blues festival in honor of Handy's musical contributions. I enjoy blues music but overall, the festival has little to do with Handy's jazz oriented orchestrations, or the music of his disciples who followed him, and a great deal to do with Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. In other words, the film is more accurate than the festival.
