Disappearing DVDs

The only two DVD releases of this odd but not bad little film seem to have come and gone pretty quickly.

First was the widescreen version [see the thread about that on this board], apparently available only from Movies Unlimited, which was pulled perhaps as much as a year or more ago.

Then came the DVD-R from Sinister Cinema, which was apparently not w/s (I never saw it, but SC's description didn't say it was letterboxed, which they normally would). This was released last year but has also been dropped from their site, again, probably many months back.

I'd guess 20th Century Fox, which owns the copyright, wasn't happy about what seem to have been unauthorized releases of the film and so demanded that these discs be withdrawn. But it would be nice to get a good, "legitimate" widescreen copy on the market sometime. Fox Movie Channel has run this film occasionally (though not lately), but the print they've used so far is pan & scan, so you can't even record a widescreen version off the air.

Got the SC version. It is not widescreen, but it is better than nothing.

In their previous sale a couple of months ago, SC revived a number of "suspended" titles for a few days, but SMX7 wasn't among them. I figured SC's copy wasn't w/s. I'm glad I got the widescreen version formerly offered by MU, even though it's not the clearest print.

Had one bad experience with MU(and many good exchanges). Their offering of Terror From the Year 5000 was generated by Incredibly Strange Filmworks. Beware.:>)

I got Terror from them long ago and thought it was fine. I assume it's from the same company you mentioned. Price was a bit much -- $24.99. But I had no problem with it.

How's the quality? I just got a film from LTC and it was all right but nothing great. The owner has been posting (meaning, advertising) heavily around the IMDb boards of late, which is how I became aware of them.
