This movie did not age well


All the little character studies are so out of place in 2015. I am creeped out by the David Niven Character. He is a certified pervert. No sympathy. And the wife beater who is reunited with his ex-wife because she is a drug abuser....please these folks are trash with money.

I think we can feel sympathy for the Major because he is deeply ashamed of what he has done. If he tried to justify it, then he would deserve no sympathy at all.

The movie is a reflection of the 1950s. In 2015, a woman would be far less likely to return to a man who physically assaulted her. There are many female victims in this film--the women at the theater, Rita Hayward's character, and Sybil, who is bullied by her mother.
