Genuinely Creepy And Disturbing....Spoiler s

I rented this last week, after not having seen it for many years. I sort of assumed, like most horror films from the 50's, that it would be tame and appear campy by today's standards. Imagine my surprise to find a genuinely creepy and disturbing film! The actor playing Dracula was quite good, and the scenes with the blind girl ("It hurts to breathe again...") gave me chills. A thoroughly enjoyable movie.

The part that scared me when I was a kid was the last part when
he fell into that mine shaft and got staked , then he turned into a skeleton.

When I watch now , I just think its a cool ending.

I have to agree with you 100%!

There was a two page spread of his impalement in Famous Monsters....when I
was a kid, it disturbed me so much I tore it out of the magazine.

Yes, a really good and creepy horror movie; the late Francis Lederer played a convincing Dracula.

reply

I concur. This film was quite spooky and enjoyable. Francis Lederer made for a splendidly suave and sinister Dracula.
