While it's true that most of the time Newman performed in dramas, I wouldn't say he was incapable of doing comedy.
I just don't think this film provided a good role for him (or forJoanne Woodward as well). Besides the casting the film had other serious problems with the script and direction. Still it's worth one look anyway.
