Love that acid toss!

Spoiler alert!!!

I would have loved to have been on the set of this movie while Nick Ray was explaining to Lee J. Cobb the aspects of his death scene. During the final act, Lee's character throws acid from a bottle at Cyd. Unfortunately, his arm can't clear a floor-to-ceiling column in the room and he ends up spritzing HIMSELF INSTEAD. Whereupon he blindly falls out of the window scrieking like a little girl! One of the funniest death scenes in movie history.

The entire ending was a scream. Taylor & Charisse are in the middle of a hail of bullets & don't get hit. The henchman(Ireland) with the acid could have easily shot both of them instead he dances around with the bottle while grabbing Charisse and drops it when he gets shot. Taylor & Cobb both go for it and Cobb comes up the winner.Why was the bottle even near his face when he was going to throw it on the girl! (lol)

Besides getting doused in acid and falling through the window, he took a few .45 caliber bullets from the cops' Thompsons, too. His last ten seconds on earth were harsh!

Funny ... until I read this I was sure that Rico deliberately spritzed himself!
