Missing Psychiatrist Footage ?

I recently saw this on TCM and could swear I noticed some missing footage. When Will has his session with the psychiatrist, he is asked if his father beats him and he answers yes. It really doesn't go farther then there. I recall that the conversation went farther than this with Will telling the doctor that his father would beat him every Sunday behind the woodshed. The doctor gets excited and thinks he's onto something until Will tells him that nobody beats him at checkers like his father can - and this of course flusters the psychiatrist.

Am I imagining this or was this perhaps added dialog to the 1955 teleplay?

You are absolutely right, coleman11. Unbelievable that TCM would allow this cut version to air. The whole scene is hilarious!

The version TCM showed 5/25/2014 included this scene. Maybe they got your message :-)

Probably it was cut for political correctness or more commonly, I hate watching movies on TV, they have all kinds of reason to cut a movie.
