I wonder why Nick Adams was cast in the role that Roddy originated on Broadway. If anyone has the answer...write and let me know.

Looking up Roddy McDowell's body of work on wikipedia, it appears for most of the 1950's he was doing Broadway shows. He had done about 25-30 movies before then, stopping in 1952 and then returning to movies in 1960. He also started appearing on TV in 1960 with lots of parts after that So, maybe he didn't want to do a movie in 1957, having a run of Broadway performances. This was Nick Adam's 15th movie since 1952 so he was obviously a rising 'star' and heavily into movies before he switched to TV (The Rebel). But it's just an opinion.
