LOL That was so hilarious to watch and it is one of my favorite parts of the movie along with when he was in the plane and he is trying to call out spitting into the mick saying "Hello!" LOL

The first time I saw this movie I was walking thru the living room and it was on and all I heard was "Hellooo" "Helloooo" by AG.\It sounded so odd/

I stopped and taped it right then and because I have a dvr I was able to go back to the beginning and see the whole thing. AG had impeccable timing.
Honestly I wonder if he was anything like these characters he played.

I have watched a personal interview that was done with Andy Griffith and from what he said none of the characters that he did was anything like him. They were mainly from people he had met. That is what a lot of actors and actresses will do is take experiences or how they view a person and use them for a character in a film or TV project that they are working on.

Before his stage, film, and television career, Andy Griffith began as a stand-up comic, like many others since. The act that he developed was to stand in front of the audience and tell stories about his home town and the people who lived there. He adopted a folksy demeanor and the act was based on his coming of age in a small town in North Carolina. So, he exaggerated his accent (or maybe just relaxed and let it fly) and did his "aw, shucks" routine.
