Ah, the Irony

A little past the 1 hour mark, an Officer remarks to the Seaman (Qtr Master Royal) firing rockets (in reference to the Californian) "If I had a gun I'd put a shell into them".

Of course, the irony is that the SS Californian was sunk 3 years later in 1915 by a torpedo from a German U Boat during WWI.

Do you think the screen writers added this line on purpose in vague reference to the Californian's future fate?
