This was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The "psychorama" was just great. They were the WORST subliminal messages I've ever seen simply because of the fact that I COULD SEE THEM. At the end of the movie, the subliminal messages said things like "DIE DEAD" and "Rent Rhino videos everyday." How much better can you get?
shareWhen I was a kid, this used to be my favorite haunted house movie. When I see it now, it looks like something you'd see on MST3K. But the version I used to see on TV back then didn't have any psychorama stuff that I could see. It must have been edited out. Rhino put them back in and didn't do such a good job, I think.
Yeah, the whole movie was laughably awful, but those "subliminal" messages ("Get Ready to Scream") were the worst.
This process was actually banned because of its moral implications but the success of The Exorcist was supposedly due to a revival of this technique.
Yeah, right. The only reason The Exorcist was a huge hit is cuz it had messages like "Eat 'em up those Raisinettes" and "Drink Pepsi cuz its better than holy water!" Gimme a break, dorko.
Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.
Also take the time period into consideration, people were probably fascinated by that kinda stuff in the late 50's. You see all kinds of cheesy horror flicks from that era, it was a very common theme.
