Two Lighthouses, One Movie

There is actually a Piedras Blancas lighthouse but for whatever reason the Point Conception lighthouse was used in the movie. I'm sure The Monster of Point Conception would have worked as well as a title but for reasons that only the movie maker's would know the movie received Piedras Blancas. The Point Conception lighthouse property is a bit more sinister looking and being in a remote area from the main roads and isolated out on that point of land would have an attraction for a monster movie maker. Currently, Point Conception Lighthouse is the least accessible lighthouse in the Coast Guard inventory which just adds to the mystique of the movie. It's too bad that all U.S. lighthouses aren't being kept maintained in working order because the structures are unique to each location and beautiful to look at. The lens is or has been moved to a museum for restoration and to be put on display but wouldn't it be fun to sail by at dusk and see the original lens beaming out to sea like it once did?
