To Get This Merry Andrews Released on DVD

Merry Andrews has never been released to the home video market. My husband and I have been looking for it for years. My theory is that they may have some problems squaring away copyrights to something in the movie, like the songs.
But, if the owners of Merry Andrews see that there is a market for selling this movie, they may pursue it.

To get them to consider releasing Merry Andrews, write to:
Warner Home Video Customer Service, 4000 Warner Blvd, Burbank CA 91522

If they see that there are a lot of people who will buy it, I believe they will release it.

I have been trying to find it too. Does this studio have a web address?

reply

just google it, i'm sure they can't be hard to find.

I, too, have been looking for this movie on DVD for several months. It is one of my favorite movies with Danny Kaye. I do intend to write to Warner and maybe they will see the need to release the movie to DVD.

reply

Add my voice. I saw it on initial release (I was about 10 or so) and it remains one of my all-time favorites.

I can only endorse yours and others comments about this wonderful film and altough it has been shown on British TV back in the early 80's, it has never to my knowledge been repeated, I would love to have it as part of my home film library and I am more than happy to write to Warner's, can you help with the address, so I send my letter to the right State please. Thanks

I too have been searching for it. I am a maths teacher and would love to remind myself of 'the square on the Hypotenuse', Pythagoras song! I am joining the campaign!

reply

I actually passed a math test once by recalling the "square of the hypoteneuse" song:

Old Einstein said it
When he was getting nowhere
Give him credit,
He was heard to declare:
"The square
Of the hypoteneuse
Of a right triangle
Is equal to the sum of the squares
Of the two adjacent sides..."

I'll be writing to Warner Home Video. I think getting actual letters by snail-mail may carry more weight than e-mail anyway.

I too would like to see Merry Andrew released on DVD

reply

Count me in. This is one of the best comedies ever!

reply

I have been more than willing to send both snail-mail, and e-mail letters to motivate the powers that be. Thanks for the directions on which address is needed. LET'S GET MERRY ANDREW ON D.V.D.!!!!! If this is too subtle, then we all need to nudge each person we know who also laughed their way through this beautifully innocent film..... no matter their age then, or now. Teamwork never is that difficult. Let's put this show back where it belongs, available for public viewing, again.

This needs to be released, it's one of Kaye's best.

Me too!I love the song 'Salut'.It deserves to be on DVD

Hi everybody, I have tried for years to get a copy of Merry Andrews and eventually find someone who had a copy. She is the Secretary of the Danny Kaye official fan club and lives in Australia. I begged her for a copy and offered to pay over the odds for a copy, but she would not do it. Maybe if we all bombard her for a copy, she might realise how important this film has become for us. Good Luck everybody

I want this released on DVD. It has a wonderful celebratory song in it: "Salute".
It is a film I saw as a small child at the movies. And it has the beautiful Pier Angeli in it.
We need this film released. While you're at it please release "Gallant Journey". Glenn Ford starred in this William Wellman film. It has a beautiful Hollywood ending. Which reminds me of another film that needs to be released: "The Adventures Of Mark Twain" starring Fredric March. Talk about Hollywood endings!

I fell in love with Danny Kaye in this movie. I tended not to like the "silly" Kaye movies so much, but this one was so sweet.

if they do release this in dvd, reserve me a copy!

reply

Am sending a postal letter requesting a DVD of Merry Andrew to the Warner address above, and am urging others I know who are not on this thread to do so. Would love to see it again, after 50 years!

I have this on DVD, taped from TCM, and i will share!
