Lyrics for the main title song

Hello, i'm new to the site and have an interest in lyrics of songs that appear in old westerns and would be grateful for information on the lyrics for this song or even to be pointed in the right direction.

Cheers

Well, this may be an extreme solution but the DVD of this great film will be released by MGM in March in the UK, if you are able to play region 2 DVDs and you liked the film a lot then your best bet would be to just buy the DVD and put the subtitles on, no doubt the song would be subtitled too therefore giving you the lyrics! A lame suggestion I know but, hey, so far I'm the only one who has posted a reply!

Can nobody help me with this one ???

I thought I just did?

Just watched it. Oddly, the film has no title song, even though one is listed in the credits.

You're right! I kept waiting for the song & it just wasn't to be heard. How strange is that for a movie's song to vanish?

Anthony Mann didn't want to have a title song which played against the mood and atmosphere of the film, which the song did. Mann remembered all too well how absurd was the credit song in The Searchers. John Ford himself later said that the title song in The Searchers was cringe-inducing and made sure it didn't happen with The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

Julie London sings the title song:

LEND AN EAR, I implore you, this comes from my heart: I'll always adore you, til death do us part.
