Watching it now on TCM

The Lost Missile just ended. It is a typical 1950s sci-fi, and seemed to be making a statement about the dangers of "The Bomb," a popular theme of that era. Very low budget, a lot of stock footage, but still good enough to keep the viewer interested as to how it will end.

Did you recognize the women's screams as those of Fay Wray in King Kong 1933?

reply

That scream was truly not needed. I mean why did she feel she had to scream, the missle did it's job and saved the day.

This uses loads of stock footage of A-bomb drills in 1951 in NY. You can see the film "Detective Story" is playing at one of movie houses in Times Sq. This same footage was also used in the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. This movie is so typical of the 1950's 'B' sci-fi flicks.

Very good and well-made for a low-budget '50's era sci-fi film. I like how the level of suspense was kept up throughout to the very end, and its downbeat tone and ending. It was also cool to see Robert Loggia looking all dapper in his younger years as the scientist, too.
