Italian version

In the italian version of the film, the film is located in Corsica, the French island of rather italian background. This was done in order to keep away the inevitable reference to local crime (i.e. mafia) from Italy. Which is rather silly, but it happened many times in that era. For example, many italianamerican characters of Hollywood thrillers and noir films were "changed" into spanish, greek, yugoslavian or such, because the government wouldn't want to have explicit references to organized crime linked with italian heritage.
"La loi" was shot in Puglia, and if you see the French version it's about an italian village, but not in Italy.
