Was this scary?

If I have seen this, which I probably have, I was a baby. I have seen Fantasia's "Night on Bold (is it "bold or "bald", whatever) Mountain" so I know yhye had some edge. Was this edgy?

I found it funny and not particularly scary.

John Book: Not one this big.

It is funny, enjoyable, maybe mildly spooky imo for the younger ones but it is a great, great, great, great, great disney film and probably one of the closest book adaptations into movies ever made.

Hell yes it is.

When I was about 5-6 years old this movie would completely terrify me. Completely and totally. I was scarred by this thing.

Now, I'm glad I saw it, consider it a rite of passage.

I was six when this was originally released, and I honestly don't remember being scared by it. I also saw it when it was re-released when I was about 12; at that time, I didn't remember seeing it when I was younger until the part when Brom Bones is hopping along on the chair, imitating the Headless Horseman.

I think it is scary in the sense that it's meant to give a bit of a scare to kids, who generally like to be scared, though not terrified. (Think of kids trying to scare each other by popping out of hiding places and yelling 'Boo!') Whereas most of the characters are such obvious caricatures, the Headless Horseman (and his horse) are much more lifelike, which adds to his scariness, because he's so much closer to real life.

This is one of my Hallowe'en entertainment traditions, the other being Orson Welles' 'War of the Worlds'. It just doesn't seem like Hallowe'en without them.

BTW, it's 'Night on Bald Mountain'. In the original Russian, it's 'Night on Bare Mountain', but they changed it in America so it wouldn't be confused with Bear Mountain. There's a Bear Mountain in New York's Hudson Valley - not too far from Sleepy Hollow, as it happens. How's *that* for coincidence?

It depends on what you mean by scary. For kids aged 1-7, it's frightening! But to someone older than that it's kinda funny.

God, yes. This scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. Just rewatched it, and I still think it's pleasantly scary (though there was nothing "pleasant" about it when I was little). It's very funny, too.

I don't know about "edgy" but this did have some scary (or rather spooky) moments for me. Mostly near the end. The Horseman's laugh is definitely scary to a young child (at least it was to me!).

And It's "Night on Bald Mountain", to answer your question.

It's not about who you are or your fancy car. You're only ever who you were.

Yes...yes, this is delightfully scary, and hilarious as well. Perfect combination of horror and humor.
