Filming Locations

As a long time enthusiast of western movie towns and ghost towns, would like to know where the ghost town in this movie was located. Expect it was built for the movie but so very realistic. Also like to know where the ghost town in "Yellow Sky" was situated. I know that this town was origonally built for the Tom Mix movies and that a crew of some 500 people prepared it for Yellow Sky.

The cabin and barn were specially built and no longer exist, materials being removed for use elswhere by private persons, but the town seemed so substantial and authentic I would like to know more.

There is still a piece of a set near Lone Pine, California, where Yellow Sky was made. It us called an arrista, I believe. Greg Peck could have played the "baby-killer", Jake Wade in this well-written oater.

Yellow Sky was filmed in the desert and environs of Lone Pine, CA. There is an "arrastra" used in the film you can still see. Google it; back in '08 a buff did some research and gives us the GPS coordinates.
