One of the best westerns you've never heard of

This is one of the best westerns you’ve never heard of. It stars Robert Taylor and Richard Widmark, but this is really Widmark’s movie. He is devilishly charming and witty in the bad guy role he perfected. This is a very well-made, high quality western. It has a great script, and it is intriguing from start to finish. There are a couple gunfights, an Indian battle, and one of the more clever finishes you’ll see in an old-school western. 3.5 action rating.

I'll second your comment on Richard Widmark, he really carried this film brilliantly. He was a pretty despicable character, but you couldn't help but like him. Perhaps it was in the slightly comical way he delivered his lines.

One thing I was curious about in a technical vein, was this shot to be a 3-D movie? I noticed quite a few 'gimmick' shots where things came at the camera, and an abundant use of red and blue items which enhance the 3-D effect.

I agree wholeheartedly. I only saw it because I'm a Widmark fan, but the film was exciting from start to finish, had great camera work, and was great. Definitely 8/10 for me.

Agreed, sadly underappreciated western.

It was decent but nothing amazing
