What's not to like :

-good cast

-variety of scenery

-Jock's look-one tuff Hombre !

-interesting storyline

-the old MCA Logo

-Gil Roland

-Lorne Greene(just a yr.before he hits the "Bonanza")

-lovely Linda Cristal

I understand that Brad Ellison was supposedly based on an actual 19th-century frontier gunfighter. Did that individual also use a gaucho-style bolas?

Wonder...

those bolas add to the novelty alright;

...the movie has mood, gravitas and guts. Jock shoulda been more of a Westerns star than he was !

Jock Mahoney was very handsome.I know some commentators have said he was bland and had no sex appeal with Cristal. I think he had plenty of sex appeal and Sally Field's mother must have thought so too. Cristal had no appeal for me. Gilbert Roland was absolutely wonderful as usual. Good movie.
