Well, there are a few things
As much as I like this film, there are a couple things that don't make sense
1. At the border crossing, Rokurota hands a stick to the official and says he found this stick that has gold in it. Since they were carrying 1000 sticks with them wouldn't it make more sense to have given them the gold bar instead of the stick? Wouldn't the soldiers want to look to see if they have any other gold hidden in the sticks?
2. The little band barely gets around the corner before a guy on horseback arrives and tells the border official to be on the look out for these people. I mean they would have been about a hundred feet down the road by then, and no one goes after them.
3. I get the whole ritualistic dual between Rokurota and Takadoro but he beats him by breaking his stick? I mean I can think of a thousand fight scenes where a broken lance wouldn't have stopped our hero. James West would never have conceded on such a small thing.
4. Also, when Rokurota comes into the camp, they had certainly gotten a fax by then telling them to be on the lookout for our little band, why wouldn't they forego the dual and go back down the road and capture the princess and all the gold?
