Malcolm Arnold's score

...sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it? In fact in some places it sounds exactly like his Bridge Over the River Kwai score. I'm sure it's my imagination...or is it? All he needed to do was have the children march into town whistling Colonel Bogey instead of singing This Old Man...

Its Nothing like Bridge Over the River Kwai score!!! but it is exacatly the same as The Heroes of Telemark also written by Mr Arnold!!!

Not only that, he also used sections of it in 'Dunkirk' - e.g. when the 'Little Ships' are heading down the Thames to the sea.

Parts of it sound like music from"Trapeze" for which he also wrote the score.

Classical composers have similar situations, the music may be quite different but the orchestrations are much the same. The use of the same instruments, motifs, counterpoint.

But I can't disagree that this score, which I like very much is very similar to the Bridge Kwai movie.

Without seeing the credits it is also easy to spot a Max Steiner score or Bernard Herrmann.
