Looking for subtitled version of this film

Does anyone here know where I can acquire a subtitled version of this movie? I have just read the book and after having seen a clip of this on youtube, I am determined to track this film down. Anyone?

Hi John

We too are looking for a subtitled version of this. We have found one (which we can't afford!) on amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002FHR0Y/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

It's 35 dollars.

Hope this has helped, let us know if you get it and if it's good!

Actually, the link you give here is for the 2003 Bortko version (which, incidentally, is superb), not the 1958 version discussed here. The Bortko version really is excellent - although the subtitles are not always synced very well with the spoken dialogue, which can make things a little confusing at times if you don't happen to speak Russian.

This film can be purchased here:

It's DVD-R, not cover artwork but the print is excellent and has optional English subtitles. Shame that the second part of the film was never made!
