Who Should Star in the Remake?

It is a terrific film about the art of Acting. When it was released, obviously it had to have the real-life Montgomery lookalike, but now that 50 years have gone by, who would you like to see starring in the remake?

Keanu Reeves?
Hilary Swank?
James Cromwell?
Denzel Washington?
Ben Kingsley?

They'd all bring different qualities to the portrayal of Monty/James.

Nice list. Though I had to look up who Hilary Swank was, and funnily enough, she's closest in the looks department.

May I suggest the following?
Brian Blessed
Matt Damon
Ben Stiller
Dakota Fanning
Jordan.

As you say, they'd all bring soemthing different to the role!

Only Gary Oldman could pull it off.

Hand it over to the BBC, I am sure they will cast Lenny Henry or Sanjeev Bhaskar for you. Probably set it in Afghanistan too.

Late on, in the movie, Monty will convert to Islam and wage holy war against NATO.

A remake is inconceivable but from the list you provided maybe Ben Kingsley.
