Casey Jones

Can anyone explain why the Chinese pilot was called Casey Jones and what the numbers 7 11 on his Mig meant? Thanks.

Here is a previous post that answers the very same question--as I never played cards or dice, I had that question too:

Thanks for that

Casey Jones was a legendary train driver and the subject of a popular ballad in the first decade of the 20th century. According to the film, the formations of MiG's taking off from China were called trains.

Oh yeah...they came over in long strings. The allied pilots called them 'bandit trains'. I wonder...I know the Russians were experienced pilots so they no doubt used 'finger 4' formation; were the rest of the 'train' the less experienced Norks or PRC pilots?

I should think they formed into elements after taking off and the columnar take-off formation was converted to something more tactical well before they expected contact with UN forces.

OK; an interesting side note, as I never play cards (Well other than gin rummy) or gamble, the 7/11 marking was totally lost to me.
