Does anyone know why this film never made it to video?
Same question about another film released in 1957 titled "UNTAMED" starring Tyrone Power and Susan Hayward. A good film about the Boer War in South Africa. There are tons of great films that never made it to video, or shown on TV.
I too wonder why it wasn't made into video. My reason is I want to see it again. When I saw it I was a young Air Force officer in pilot training at Loredo AFB, Texas. It was a good story but I was taken by the realistic, graceful and exciting (as I remember some 45 years ago) flying scenes. Does anyone know how I can get a copy of this movie? Thanx, Al

THE HUNTERS was released on DVD on May 25, 2004. My (advance ordered) copy
just arrived today from Amazon (28 May 04).
I can tell you that the quality of the DVD release is EXCELLENT; it's clear to me that there was at least a little computer processing to clean up the Technicolor color shift.
The special features include a Fox Movietone newsreel clip re. the movie's release (it premiered at the base theater at the then new USAF Academy), a teaser, and the trailer.
I've already done a viewer comment on the DVD; it should appear on the database shortly.
