Their Home

I believe this house is located in Marblehead, MA rather than Danvers, MA. Does anyone out there recognize this house? Being in New England I wouldn't doubt if it is still there. They have such a wonderful tradition of treasuring and keeping their old homes. As far as I can tell from google maps, there is no Crockett Street (the street Jean Simmons mentions that they live on) in either Marblehead or Danvers, MA. Someone out there must know (as the detectives always say :)).

This house is still there...it is on the corner of Union St, and Hooper St.
the address is 2 Union St. It's the ol "Lafayette House" and it is valued at
over a million dollars...it has four bedrooms and Five bathrooms... and it is in Marblehead, MA.

That is the famous "Lafayette House" in Marblehead, where legend has it that when Lafayette’s coach tried to make it around the corner, it could not pass for the narrowness of the way. The homeowner cut off the corner of the house to make way for the French General’s coach.

The house is about 6 houses down the street from where I live.

In fact, the scene where she goes down the rock stairs, and across the street, to head for the water, is where I live. However, there is no rocky beach, like it shows in the movie, just docks.

I have to tell you, I am green with envy. What a pleasant and historic place to live.

I poked around some more online and found this link:

Lots of architectural info which I love, including The Lafayette House!

Unreal experience (deja vu) again ... as I read your correction: " Marblehead, MA' Robert Osborn (TCM) spoke these exact words at the same moment as I read yours.
Why comment here about this ? Because, it always freaks me out when this happens and as I get older these 'moments' seem to happen more frequently... in fact, its increased at an alarming rate. So, I just had to share and ask 'Does anyone else have 5 - 10 or more incidents of deja vu like this per per day ? Seems to have increased since I've retired (watching more TV ?). I pretty much have TCM on all day, can't take 'commercial' TV any longer (not a plug for TCM.
Anyone else ???
