Did they kill that horse in the cliff scene?


That was horrible and looked like they really sacrificed the horse. Does anybody know?

I'm not sure. But this is being a 1958 movie, i wouldn't be surprised if it was killed. Heavens Gate was 1980 and that had a total of 7, yes 7, animals being slaughtered! In Manderlay (2005) a donkey was slaughtered. I couldn't find out whether it's illegal or not but at any rate, it just seems plain cruel and unnecessary.

I watched it again in slow motion and it looks like a lifeless dummy horse to me.

I do trust that you are correct sir.
The film is so well done,it hols my total interest each time.The 50's,not perfect{by any means}but better than 2013!
