19 early twentys, i'm watching it w/ my boyfriend and he thinks 12!?!

well, if I had to guess, I would say somewhere between 16 and 18.

In the book, Gigi's mother prevented her from acting adult so that people would not realize she (the mother) was old enough to have a daughter out of school clothes. However, Gigi was still young enough to live at home and have school friends. I don't have the book handy to look up whether or not it stipulates her age but I'd place her at 17. Many of Colette's stories are about jailbait or near-jailbait girls and much older men.

Gigi is 15 in the novel.

I would have taken a guess at age 16; glad someone actually read the novel upon which the musical is loosly based.

She has to be under 18 if she's still in school. She is older than 12. I'd say 16 or 17 tops.
