A different take...


As an adult male, I have a different take on this movie.

The three main leads, Julie, Bill, and Hitty appear to be three difficult people, some with secrets not shared with the others. Also, each person is unlikeable in his/her unique way. Weirdly, the story attempts to bind those three into a family, and the attempt seems doomed to failure from the get-go.

Jean Negulesco was a talented director, but even he and the script couldn't create anything like a "family" out of that mess. Maybe that was the real point of the movie.
