sharePerhaps you are thinking of Georges Méliès "A Trip to the Moon (Le Voyage dans la lune)" (1902) which is "live-action" but has a cartoony look to it. The very quirky but enjoyable "The Fabulous World of Jules Verne" (Vynález zkázy) (1958) is similar.

In From the Earth to the Moon, after the astronauts land, the encounter malcious robots who attempt to kill them.
I loved it when I was a kid, and I would love to see it again as a grownup.

Well, that sounds like fun. I always liked Off On a Comet and I never knew a picture was made of it -- live-action or animated. The other title either.
I looked around the IMDb and couldn't find any either under the respective titles themselves or under "Jules Verne". I'll have to poke around the inter-net some more.
