the first sight of the stream from the hill - reminded me of the place where the cabin sat in TRUE GRIT - Hathaway's later film - and the fall foliage seemed to have been shot in the same way in both films

also the gunfight between Loman and Carmody reminded me of one in QUIGLEY DOWN UNDER - the way Loman lays on his back behind a rock formation - removes his hat - and in both films - they both shoot something loose - a boulder - a tree - on their adversary

and the proficiency with the rifle resembles the premise of the Audie Murphy film made a couple years later - SEVEN WAYS FROM SUNDOWN - cept in that film - the hero's ineptitude with pistols is made clear - while the opposite is the case in QUIGLEY
