Earth v the Spider

This is not too bad as horror movies go but I was astonished when the expert from the Zoo referred to the Spider as an insect; every schoolboy knows that a spider is not an insect but an arachnid. How could Hollywood make such a mistake?

reply

Hollywood makes mistakes like this all the time, not just back in the fifties. They basically don't really care about reality, just as long as the picture sells.

It's odd bringing up "reality" when you're discussing a movie (especially one with a giant spider!). Movies take place in a universe that looks like ours, but isn't. They have editing, and soundtrack music, most of the people are beautiful, and usually all the boring bits are cut out. Who would want to go see a movie that actually depicted real life in our universe?

To hell with the nitpicking details, re: insects, arachnids, bugs -- bring on the giant spider!!!

Thanks for your reply - I couldn't agree more. We both know that there is not much that can be done about this either.

The title should have been "A Handful of People vs. The Spider."
