Yep been waiting ages for it & hope it`s widescreen!(Released Tomorrow August 21)

Well, mine's fullscreen, but I doubt if there's much missing? Nice, clean picture.

Yes just got mine through the post today & it is definitely fullscreen.According to I.M.D. the ratio should be 2.00:1 although they do occasionally make mistakes with their info.I must admit i`ve never seen a widescreen version broadcast on tv but by the late 50`s most major British productions were filmed this way (usually 1.85:1 or 1.66:1)so does seem the dvd is a bit of a missed opportunity.Does anyone know for sure?Just to ad: BBC2 showed a nice widescreen print of this film the other day so big slap on wrist for the distributors of this dvd.Get it right next time!

I bought it todat when I was passing throught town, I've just finished watching it and thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Fabulous performances from John Mills, Richard Attenborough and Bernard Lee and also the young Sean Barret. Very powerful as well, for 1958 it's quite horrific in places. Undoubtedly one of the best British War films.

I'm not a great Englishman - Charles Dickens, Laurence Olivier and William Shakespeare were great Englishmen!
