i saw this on vhs when i was young, i don't remember realising what great dialogue, this had amazing performances from all involved, i didn't recognise the daddy when i first saw it, but since then saw him in a paul newman movie on tcm, and sophia loren and anthony perkins create magic between each other, they connect so extraordinary well somehow (notice they went on to star in another movie), this is kind of like watching a stage play with amazing dialogue rather than a movie, small set with very few players. perkins has such intense screen presence as usual and making you feel with the fella he's portraying, don't seem right he mainly got known for playing "psycho", i can't believe him and sophia loren are in their early 20's in this, they seem so adult, and she's together with the farmer portraying a man in his 70's, and becoming mother #3 or so to perkins. some of the scenes reminds a bit of the jennifer lopez part in u-turn, though that wasn't as subtle. you don't hear much about this movie but i thought it had the same standard as those classic movies tcm airs over and over again.
in my ship out on dangerous waters,
grey sky waves hitting so far from shore,
i'm alone drifting at the sea,
nobody in the world cares about me,
i hear your voice echo over the waves,
wish i could rest my troubled mind at you babe,
my soul feel right at home darlin in your place,
if you ask ill fight for you,
any pirate for the things you did for me,
without wouldnt have anyone to believe in,
god bless you for your kindness and support,
saved the blood from running cold,
out on dangerous waters, as i continue on my low down lonesome sail,
hoping your hot sexy self will come back to my old rusty ship someday.
