the REAL narrator of the film.

i hate when i see the wrong information given to the public about classic films. it is erroneously stated here on I.M.D.B. that the great character actor MORRIS ANKRUM did the narration for CURSE OF THE FACELESS MAN [1958]. that is 100% false. the narrator was in my opinion THE greatest voice over artist ever [with apologies to the great PAUL FREES] VIC PERRIN. he was best known as the ''control voice'' narrator on the OUTER LIMITS 1963-65 TV series. the mystery is solved.

Thank you! Morris Ankrum was a neighbor of ours before he passed in 1964. He took credit for many, many films in which he had absolutely NO part. He had a long feud with Vic Perrin, beginning in 1949 when Vic discovered that Morris had passed himself off as a decorated war veteran. In fact, Morris Ankrum served in the Merchant Marine as a dock hand and saw no action, never leaving his posh assignment in Long Beach, CA the entire span of WWII. Vic Perrin revealed his "stolen valor" to the public and Morris Ankrum spent the rest of his life stealing credit from Vic, and other notable voice talent. In 1960, Morris Ankrum was convicted of plagiarism, too. He self-published a novel under the pen name Tobias Pahloosh which was nothing more than a loose reworking of E.M. Forrester's "A Passage to India". As kids, we couldn't stand the guy. He was all shouty and yelly at the neighborhood children. In turn, we routinely bombarded his house with eggs, set fire to his garage (TWICE!), threw rocks through his windows, and poisoned 2 of his pet dogs. I am glad that you spotted this. Cheers!

wow. i totally believe what you're saying. i had no idea whatsoever that Morris Ankrum took credit for things he didnt do. my post was only to shed light on who the real narrator of the film was, it wasnt to discredit mr. Ankrum in any way. quite the contrary, he happens to be one of my favorite actors from the golden age of sci-fi films. im sad to hear that he wasnt as nice a person in 'real life' as he was onscreen. i guess we all have our quirks. no one is perfect. i will still be a fan of him professionally of course & admire him for all the great movie memories he has given me. but im also glad that i can let VIC PERRIN get the recognition he so richly deserves as an excellent voice artist.

Good grief...if you set fires and participated in poisoning two blameless dogs, you don't sound like a good neighbor, either. Ankrum died a painful death from trichinosis, so maybe you can go celebrate by killing a cat or something.

I've grown up a lot since those days of misspent youth. Yes, I am far from perfect and have had to spend a good bit of time in jails or prisons. My temper has gotten me into a bunch of those messes for which I've served time. When I get mad at somebody, I just see red and start pounding away or stabbing them with any knife that I find laying around. But, it's not the way that I want to be. Everyday, I strive to better and try not to hurt anyone else.
