Ross Martin's Part Should Have Been Larger

Loved Ross Martin and his brief time on the screen in this movie was great but it should have been so much longer. Yeah, I know the movie can't really get started until his character's death but -- he was just so good.

BTW, he and Mala Powers pair up again in a WILD WILD WEST episode, "The Night of the Big Blast". It's classic!

His part was pretty large, however, as he provided the voice for the Colossus. And he did a pretty good job of it, as well.

Ross Martin was a great star in both TV and movies. He was good at sympathetic characters, such as the astronaut who is killed by a micro-meteorite in George Pal's CONQUEST OF SPACE (1954) or the compadre Andamo, the side-kick partner of Mr. Lucky (John Vivyan) in the classic TV series "MR. LUCKY" (1960). And of course he is probably best remembered as Artemus Gordon in TV's "WILD WILD WEST" (1965-69).
Ross Martin was also good at playing psychotic villains, such as the character in the episode "Echo" of "ONE STEP BEYOND" (1959), which was amazingly similar to Rod Serling's "TWILIGHT ZONE" in form and content. His all-time best bad guy was the psychotic killer Red Lynch, who torments a woman and her sister in Blake Edwards' classic film noir thriller EXPERIMENT IN TERROR (1962), itself a fine tribute to Alfred Hitchcock's PSYCHO (1960).

I agree. I was disappointed that Martin was out of the picture, except for his electronically distorted voice, after only about the first ten minutes. But I think he did a brilliant job, in the limited time he had, of portraying such a nice, likeable, loving guy that the nightmare of having his brain transplanted to a frightening robot, losing everything in his life, losing his sanity, and his second and final death are even more tragic and poignant.
