It's All About Money

I personally cannot raise any sympathy for Williams' overheated white trash characters.

Taylor's character only wants to get impregnated so she can have power over her brother in law and get all the money. The only reason she married Brick was for the cash. So, quite unpleasant on many levels.

Since Newman's character is gay, it's the only reason that he could never desire the lovely Liz Taylor as she's parading around in a negligee! Plus, it's almost absolutely stagebound, which shows a complete lack of imagination by the filmmakers.
