Sony to release UK DVD!

Sony are planning the UK Region 2 DVD and it could be out late 2008! Here is the man who handles the Columbia pictures catalogue. Also planned are:
THE GORGON, THE DAMNED (1963), NEVER TAKE SWEETS FROM A STRANGER, TASTE OF FEAR (aka SCREAM OF FEAR, 1961) and others.

Drop him an e-mail as I just have!

It's due out on September 21 2009 but appears only to be available from UK online retailer MovieMail, released simultaneously with two other Hammer classics also originally distributed by Columbia, namely THE DAMNED and YESTERDAY'S ENEMY. All are listed at the discount price of 11.99 GBP. Whether they'll eventually be available internationally from Amazon and elsewhere is anyone's guess, a bit like the Warner DVDs that are only available through Best Buy outlets in the US until they suddenly turn up on other onlite sites! You may care to wait - but you may risk missing them altogether!

BTW, this movie had a celebrity screening at London's NFT earlier this month (August 17) before which Barbara Shelley was interviewed about her memories of making the picture. The interview was filmed and I assumed this was potentially for an upcoming DVD edition. I can't imagine that Sony have acted that quickly to get this ready for a September release, but we shall see.
