Andrew Jackson and his milk? What?

Alright, so I am by no means a history buff, but a cursory Google search gave me absolutely no insight behind the scene where one of Jackson's men urges him to finish drinking his milk. Emphatically. What was the significance of this? Was it just really strange product placement? Misguided stage business? Or is there actually evidence that Jackson had some kind of serious calcium deficiency? I'd like to know!

During the New Orleans battle Jackson was recovering from a wound from a duel the previous year. I think it is an illusion to that and to his wife's and orderly's maternal concern for the big tough man getting his proper nutrition. So, I think it was quasi historical.
