Miss Fritton...or her sister?

I have watched the St. Trinian's films many times (even the pretty dire 'Wildcats'!), but I have only just noticed that in the first film 'Belles', Alistair Sim plays Millicent Fritton, and in the second film 'Blue Murder', he plays Amelia Fritton. Was this an error on the film-makers' part, or was it intentional?

...Nor is it explained why Miss Fritton was behind bars (it seems!) at the beginning of the film.

Possibly, it was for non-payment of her (the school's) debts, but this isn't explained, either.

Although the rest of the cast - especially the wonderful Lionel Jeffries in drag - were very good, the film DID lack the extended presence of Alastair Sim....

As to the change of Christian names from Millicent to Amelia, I have no idea....

(I too, thought this film was an improvement on "Belles"......)
