Aneta Corsaut

Not only was she really beautiful with a wonderfully expressive face and eyes, she turned in a very heartfelt performance in "The Blob," and has a startling chemistry with Steve McQueen. I watch the film every now and again, and I am always surprised at how fresh and charismatic the two lead performers are. Or, maybe I'm just a sucker for sentimentality! Whatever the case, the scene in which Corsaut convinces McQueen that he "isn't the type to turn his back on what he knows is true" always gets me. It's so sincere and human.

"The Blob" is a very good film in many regards, and the good performances all around (the whole cast is great) only made it better.

Ya know she played Andy Griffiths main squeeze, Helen Crump, a few years later on the Andy Griffith Show ? I have seen this movie upteen times since the early 60s along with growing up on TAGS and can't believe I never made the connection until tonight !

reply

Yes Aneta was a hot lady.

reply

I also grew up watching TAGS, and the first time I watched The Blob it was only because I knew she was in it, and I wanted to see her playing a character other than Helen Crump. I've since become a fan of this film, especially the theme music.

reply

Completely agreed with the OP!

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.

reply

With Andy she sometimes acted like she had a corncob up her you-know-where.

reply

i kept wanting his character to kiss her character in the movie.

reply

Doesn't the movie open with them kissing?

Poorly Lived and Poorly Died, Poorly Buried and No One Cried

reply

I would not call her beautiful.

reply

I would not call her beautiful.
Neither would I. Marginally attractive, yes, but not beautiful. The hottest girl in the picture, in my opinion, was the blonde who was with McQueen's friend Tony when he went to the movie theatre to get the kids to help him warn the town. I don't know who she was, but she was WAY more attractive than Aneta Corsaut.

It's a cookbook!!!

reply

Was she the one with the dark eyebrows, that the drunk called Mrs. Paul Revere? She caught my attention.

reply

Agreed. I thought the same thing.

In fact both the girls from the theater were better looking.

I think she was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful actresses of the '60s and she was really sweet in the Blob. She and Steve made a great couple.
