Kill Danny...

Is there any more annoying screen kid in the history of cinema? Every time this kid appears on screen, I'm routing for the Blob to get him.

"Whewere you going?" "I'm not afwaid, I'll gawd you." Talk about a thick east-Pennsylvania accent!

reply

Yes I agree, that kid was friggin' irritating......

reply

Nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. In fact I wrote a brief aside to this effect in a retrospective article about the making of the film.

reply

yeah that kid was obnoxious, he talked too damn wierd, i hated how he said "guarding you".

reply

Yeah, and how about when he was firing his cap pistol at the blob? How dumb was that?

reply

I think it is interesting that in the 1988 remake the annoying kid got eaten. Just another example I suppose of giving the audience what they want.

reply

I thought Newt from 'Aliens' was annoying, but, man....

reply

"I'm not afwaid, I'll gawd you."

LMAO. That kid had the funniest accent I've ever heard in a movie. I wonder where he is now?

reply

ROFLMAO!!! I thought maybe he was mentally challenged. The way he spoke really annoyed me.

reply

Newt? Annoying? Some people have no patience for kids, I guess.

reply

i bet he was a local kid who they used for the part.and like a lot of the locals used in the movie it was their only film.hopefully Wes will answer that in his book.i plan on asking him at the next blobfest.

reply

This kid HAS TO BE related to Barbara Walters somehow.

reply

its funny in the remake, the blob killed the really annoying kid and i'm suprised steve mcqueen didnt throw him in the blob when thaey were trapped as a sacrifice.

reply

The blob would've just kept coming if he did. It's appetite is insatiable. But yeah, I'd throw the kid in just for the heck of it!

reply

i love me

chances are the blob would just go away saying: thats all i wanted!

reply

That kid was annoying as hell.

Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean I

Sure kid, like your measly cap gun is going to kill a gelatinous mass from outer space... I wanted to hrow into the Blob at that point. Maybe a few other children as well, too.

There's so much pressure to like monkeys.

I think maybe he was supposed to be retarded or something. He sure acted like it anyway.

reply

I too concluded, through an attempt at benefit of doubt, that the kid was just mentally challenged. There is NO WAY that any kid that age could be so terrible at playing such a minor part, or so I have pressed myself to believe for years. Yeah, I suppose it could've been worse, and...it was -- just read on and catch my "anality" in full swing.

Truthfully, out of all that Danny sickened me with, the one thing that intensely burned me about he Blob over the years: the fact that Jane later lied, saying she didn’t see it when she clearly did while the old man was lying on the table in the doctor’s office. She, too, is the SAME ONE to accuse Steve of potentially trying to run game on her, yet she then later sincerely says in supportive fashion -– in one night’s date, mind you – “but I know you” to Steve, as if he has won all of her trust for a lifetime…EVEN THOUGH she basically indicates to the police she may sorta question how “shady” Steve’s thoughts can be to her. It’s like she’s making him seem questionable ‘cause she's uncertain herself (that she wants to believe what she's seen); in other words, it’s like she’s subconsciously pent it up in her mind she can only be crazy if everyone else in the world around her is too.

With bullshyt like hers, the Blob was able to get as far as it did, which could have been avoided had Jane been less selfish. And with that diner being the rightful place for a good meal, I say that both she and that annoying weasel of a little brother of hers should've been the Blob’s last supper.

reply

It's clear to me that they could have exited the diner a lot easier had they sacrificed the kid. I mean - who would have questioned it. It's an insatiable gelatinous goo. In fact - Steve McQueen's character should have sacrificed both the girl and her mentally challenged and/or bad acting little brother and just high tailed it out of there.

I've said my piece. Thank you very much.

Yes! This has bothered me too. All she had to say was "Steve's not lying. I saw it too". But she didn't say anything.

I saw it not long ago, and I'm pretty sure the scene was that McQueen told the cop that he saw the blob devour Dr. Tallen, and then the cop asked her if she saw that, too, and she said that she didn't. She wasn't lying about that, because she was sitting in the car parked in front of the house when Steve went around to the back of the house and saw the Blob devouring the doctor by the back window, which she couldn't have seen.

It's a cookbook!!!

reply

Thank you. He IS the most annoying kid I've seen in any film!!

You assume of course, that the Blob CAN kill Danny. Suppose Danny TAKES OVER the Blob, BECOMES the Blob??? Then humanity would be plagued forever by the DannyBlob.... absorbing and talking, absorbing and talking, absorbing and talking..............

Just watched it for the first time ever... That is 1 *beep* annoying kid! They should've named this movie "Danny" as his acting was scarier than the Blob!

reply

I would have smashed those cap pistols over his stupid little head and tossed his a$$ into The Blob, but it probably would have spit him out.
