Dave: "Well, can we put it out?"
Bill: "Any suggestions? Anyway, not enough oxygen in there to keep a fire burning for 10 minutes."

This line has never made any sense to me and I still wonder why it was said.
If I remember correctly this was after the Police shot the electrical wire down from the pole to try and electrocute the blob?
The blob was shown completely covering the diner like a blanket. The line in context to the dialog was meant to suggest that there would be no breathable air inside the diner in a short time because the blob was pretty much "smothering" the diner and everything in it.
Whether that was actually possible or not, Well, The BLOB was a cheap sci-fi movie.
Guess she didn't like the cornbread either.
