She wasn't in this movie, but did star in BLOOD ALLEY with John Wayne.
shareThat stabbing rescue of Bacall by Wayne is indeed in "Blood Alley."
shareAnd the soldiers were Chinese, not Japanese. The film took place in contemporary (1955) Communist China. The villagers sprung sea captain Wayne from prison so he could take them on a stolen ferryboat to freedom in Hong Kong. Bacall was the daughter of the local American doctor, still living in China.
Unlike The Barbarian and the Geisha, Blood Alley takes place in modern times and was not filmed in the Far East, but in northern California (which actually stands in very well for the film's setting).
