Do the Wealthy really use the phrase "Top Drawer"?
I have never heard that phrase except for this movie and wonder if they really say that in describing themselves and their circle.

shareIt's "top drawer" and I'm not sure if they use it now, but I have heard it used.
shareYes, I believe "top drawer" is a fairly common phrase.
shareIt was used more commonly in the past, but yes. It's derivation comes from the top drawer of a chest of drawers. The top drawer was most commonly designed to house jewelry, watches, and the most valuable items one would keep in their bedroom/dressing room.
shareI recall it being used by Anne Bancroft in the movie G.I. Jane. It's not uncommon. It may, like other phraseology, be used more in one particular circle than another. But this phrase is not unusual.

I fixed the title of the thread. I had not realized that I left out the "p" in top. Anyway, thanks for the responses.
