Someone would have seen him

it was very light and the street was crowded and there buildings across the way. if it darker it would have been more realistic.

Exactly. Someone should have seen him.

Never heard of this movie, and was surprised to see it was you posting about it.

How would you rate it overall?

reply

I watched it this morning on TCM. It's considered to be foreign film-noir.

reply

What did you think of it? How would you rate it?

I'm not a fan of noir so will pass, but I'm curious.

reply

There were some things that strained credulity a bit, such as the topic of this thread but I enjoyed it for the most part. It kept me engaged and guessing with some interesting twists. I'd rate it 7/10.

Maybe this would be more to your liking https://moviechat.org/tt11028234, since I know you enjoy good cinematography. I was pleasantly surprised with it at sunrise today, also on TCM.

reply

A French film noir with a good twist. I had some problems with the plot but I enjoyed it. 7/10.

It sort of reminded me of a typical Columbo mystery. It began with a murder, with the perpetrator being obvious and during the remainder of the film, the viewer is left guessing how he'll eventually be found out.

reply

Have you seen Diabolique (1955)?? Many think Columbo was based on the detective in that movie.

reply

The title definitely rings a bell and if I did, it was long ago and it's due for a re-watch.
