Tavernier uses his lighter to illuminate the car's floor-indicator panel.

There's no way that lighter - held above and to the left of the panel - could
have thrown off so much light and shown the panel so well.

But, a gaffer with a spot could!

Ever just try to watch a film, without getting caught up in pointless minutiae that has nothing to do with the movie itself?

When a director removes credibility from a scene because of a technical error in filming, it's natural for the audience to wonder what else is wrong with the scene.

In this case, there doesn't seem to be any other error.
