Why use the 3:10 to Yuma theme

Why did the filmmaker choose to use the 3:10 To Yuma theme music at the end of the film? This B-movie was nothing like the classic in plot or tone. Maybe to try and add heft to a B film?

It's called recycling friend.

The 3:10 To Yuma theme music was used in a number of Columbia produced movies at the time. This was not the only one. It was also used in Good Day for a Hanging. If you have ever seen 20th Century-Fox's I Wake Up Screaming, you will find the film using MGM's Over the Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz. This was actually a common practice in the Hollywood Studio Days. It saved them money. It was also common to remake films on a frequent basis by giving them different titles and changing the names of the characters. An example of this is the 1939 Columbia feature Blind Alley which was remade in 1948 as The Dark Past.

That's interesting. I guess since the film has been around and been so iconic for so long, that I see the music as "belonging" to 3:10 To Yuma, and not as an entity of its own.

Every studio recycled music they owned from popular films. The Flash Gordon serials recycled music from the Bride of Frankenstein (1935).One of Universal's earliest credited scores.
