Oh dear, a happy ending ... quick let's dig Bergman up.

Come on, I liked it. Those actors deserved a little success and a chance to "play-the-palace" so to speak.

Having just watched this film, I must say that I rather enjoyed it. "Smiles of a Summer Night" and "The Magic Flute" have happy endings as well. However, I am still puzzled about the dying actor. What happened to him after the troupe had put him in the carriage? He just disappeared then showed up again conveniently to die and be substituted for Vogel. And the doctor did not notice that the drunk was a different person? How about Andersson, dying in vain, as he did not really kill Vogel? Just a few of the mysteries that shall haunt me.
